Gatsby Parties

In the book "The Great Gatsby" there have been 3 parties: Daisy's party in chapter 1, Myrtle's party in chapter 2, and  Gatsbys in chapter 3. My favorite party out of all of these wonderful choices would be Mr.Gatsby's. Now I could go on and on about how Mr.Gatsby's party was the best, but I am going to do the opposite of that. I am going to tell you why none of the rest of the parties transcend to the level of amusement that Mr.Gatsby's party was. However, before I do that let me describe Gatsby's amazing party.

At the beginning of the chapter, nick starts to explain how he got a personal invitation to Mr.Gatsby's extravagant party that he throws every weekend. When Nick arrives at the party he feels out of place somehow because of all the strangers. When he joins the party Nick hears rumors about the host (Mr.Gatsby), for example, he hears that Mr.Gatsby killed a man in cold blood and that he went to Oxford. But Nick notices that no one really knows anything about Mr.Gatsby at all. When Nick enters Gatsby's mansion he finds Jordan Baker and her friend Lucille. All the strangers and Nick are astonished by how wealthy Mr.Gatsby is because of his Rolls-Royce, his pool, his beach, all the oranges and lemons he owns, the buffet tents in the garden that are filled with so much food it makes it seem like its a feast, and the live orchestra that is playing throughout the chapter. People are amazed by how mush alcohol is freely flowing throughout the mansion. At this point in history, alcohol was illegal because of the prohibition.

At somewhat of the end of the chapter, Nick and Jordan come back from exploring the mansion and trying to find Gatsby, their host, they decide to come back outside into the garden. In the garden, there is live entertainment such as the orchestra, people dancing, Banjos playing, people doing stunts in the garden, just to name a few. Mr.Gatsby's party is the best party because the vibe is fun and amusing while all the rest of the parties were small, sad, and boring. None of the parties could have transcended above Mr.Gatsby's party because of the things I just listed.

Daisy's party was small and private which is good but the mood was bad. Even though there was alcohol at this party it was still boring and sad. No one was having fun and Tom, Daisy's husband killed the mood by being too aggressive and by him taking up every convorsation with talking about how the whit race was suppior then the minorties. It was also bad because it was awkward because Tom and Daisy kept fighting. Everything about Daisy's party was bad, the only good part I liked about it was that there was food.

Tom and Myrtle's party was terrible. It was worse than Daisy's in my opinion. It was small, sad, boring, Myrtle got punched in the nose by Tom and the whole environment was crowded because of all the big furniture that did not fit in their secret apartment. Mrytle being punched in the nose was the only good part about this party. Mrytle, the co-host, is a stuck up person and she is also a gold digger. She is very catholic and she is thiccc (yes with 3 c's). She craves compliments but doesn't accept them. She changes her outfits 3 times in chapter 2 which is crazy because who changes her outfits that much in one day? Mrytle is also married and is having an affair with Tom Buchanan. Now, Tom, the other co-host of this awful party is an abusive cheating man. He punches Myrtle in the nose and breaks it because she talked back to him because he said Daisy's name and Mrytle does not want to hear about Daisy. Everything about this party was terrible. There were only two good things about this party. The first one is my favorite personally, it is when Tom punches Mrytle in the nose. The reason why this is my first favorite part is that I wanted someone to shut Mrytle up because she is annoying in my opinion plus I just wanted to see someone I hated get punched. The second good part about this party was when one of their guest fell asleep. The reason I felt that that part was great was that it basically symbolized me trying to read that chapter without either throwing the book in rage or just being tired and trying not to fall asleep reading it because of how boring the party was.

Even though some of these parties were terrible I still am really enjoying reading this book. However, Mr.Gatsby's party is the best party so far, and you can fight me on that.
