Rhetorical appeal in advertising

We see advertisements every day. Whether your driving to Walmart and you see a billboard on the right side of the road for diapers, or you're sitting on the couch watching the super bowl and you see a Pepsi commercial with Cardi B in it. Where ever you go you will see advertisements for stupid things like sasquatch soap. But are the advertisements you see all around you good at relaying their massage to buy their product to the consumer?  Well here are two advertisements, one paper advertisement, and one video advertisement, that I believe are good.

This is my paper advertisement; It is a crest toothpaste paper ad. This ad is good because it has ethos, pathos, and logos in it. It has ethos because on the very bottom of the paper it says and I quote " The doctors choice for fighting cavities." By this add saying that doctors, professionals that study cavities and medical stuff, gives this whole add credibility and makes all the logos in this add credible as well. It has logos because in the small text that is very hard to read on the bottom of the page it says that "crest has prevented 523 million cavities since its introduction in 1955."  This is evidence that is making crest look better and prove to the consumer that this product is effective in helping to fight cavities. It has pathos because of the picture on the top of the page of the teeth as dice and also by the ad saying "There are some things you just can't afford to gamble with." This is pathos because the picture is trying to make the consumer scared for their teeth and will make them buy the product. The quote appeals to pathos because it will make the consumer believe that if they buy this product their teeth won't decay from cavities.

This is the ad video that I believe has all three ethos, logos, and pathos in it. It has ethos in it because at the very end of the video it has a very famous NBA player Anthony Davis in it to promote the sports company, Nike.  By Nike including a famous NBA player in their commercial, it makes their company and their products seem more credible and good to use. It has pathos because with Anthony Davis in this commercial using their product makes people or the consumer want to buy the product because they saw a famous person, who they look up to, using the product. It has logos because of how many people are using Nike products in this video ad. By, Nike putting that in their video ad will make the consumers believe that this product is good and very well made and effective to use this product to play the sport. This ad to me is very effective in relaying to the consumer that their product is better than any other sports company out there. This ad has the right combo of ethos, logos, and pathos which makes this ad effective and good.

These ads that I have chosen are very good at relaying their message to buy their product to the consumer or person who is going to buy their product. Both of these ads have used ethos, pathos, and logos very well. whether you see ads on the side of the road on a billboard or while your watching tv, you must know that not all ads are effective at persuading the consumer or customer to buy their product. An ad must have ethos, pathos, and logos in it because those are what relay the message to the customers of the product to buy the product or item they are looking at or are interested in.
